Katie's mother is really strict and does not like it when the girls are not lady like. Katie's father tell her things her mother wouldn't approve of. Her father was also proud of Katie when she wet herself. She said her father was proud of them when they did anything. I think Katie favors her father more because in the story she seems to feel like she can talk to her father freely. When she talks to her mother she has to be careful. She can't draw mustaches on her face when they learned that the woman of Ainu had painted them selfs on their faces. Their mother did not like that at all. Her father on the other hand took pictures of them. So I think that Katie favors her father.

Meaghan, I think that you are right about Katie and Lynns father and mother and their relationships. Mother seems much more tense and nervous about things, and maybe father feels that he needs to be a bit lighter for the kids sake. Do you think that mother is like that for a reason?

ReplyDeleteI think the mother is scared. I think she is scared of many things. I also think she wants to make sure her children are safe and good. Thats my way of seeing it.
